Comfort Zone - Field Study Day 31.10.08 from Yemisi Blake on Vimeo.
What happens when you get two Parkour practitioners, a writer, a neuroscientist, a dancer, a photographer, a film-maker, a sound artist and two sports scientists in one room? This isn't one of my bad jokes, it was the field day held for all the artists on the Comfort Zone project. Comfort Zone has brought together artists, scientists and athletes to collaborative creatively and design a series of workshops for young people to take part in. We're currently in the development stages, which means we get to meet up and have mish-mash days when we connect our different areas. In the middle of the video you'll see an experiment put together by the film-maker Karl Stevenson and myself. Two 'athletes' must pass through the sensors and respond to commands written on pieces of paper. One you've passed through one sensor, another lights up and you must make your journey to another command. Karl very creatively put 'slap your face' as one of the commands!
